Today, engineer and mayoral candidate Councilwoman Angela Leet released the following response to Greg Fischer's trip in India to tout Louisville as a compassionate city:
"Touting compassion as a means of making a city safer is disingenuous coming from a mayor whose two-terms have brought us a nearly 250% increase in homicides since he declared our city a 'city of compassion.' While victims continue to pile up from shootings and drug overdoses, the mayor's response is all empty talk. Compassion without action has not, and will not, stop the growing violent crime and drug abuse rates. We need action, not words."
